Seminar on Growth, Development & Sustainment; Challenges in India
Growth and development are the most desirable wheels of the economic chariot of any nation. But these terms have different definitions for experts from different fields. Also, sustainable growth is a challenge, even for developed economics. In this backdrop, the school organized a talk on the topic “Growth, Development & Sustainment; Challenges in India””. Prof. Satya N. Mishra, Dean, KIIT School of Management joined the session as the expert speaker and delivered a wonderful and thought provoking talk to the students of KSFH. Prof. Mishra started his speech from the theories propagated by the Father of Economics Adam Smith and tried to relate that to the today’s scenario and explained various challenges Indian economy is going through since independence on the developmental front and what are our achievements over the past seven decades. With his brilliant art of holding the nerve of the audience, Prof. Mishra made the students stick to their seats untill the end of the seminar.
The School has always been in the forefront in organizing seminars and workshop for its students on concurrent issues. After the reopen of the University after pandemic, this was for the first time a seminar was conducted in the physical mode for the students. The cheerfulness of attending such a program in physical mode after so long was visible on the faces of students as well as faculty members of the School.
On this occasion, students of the school who had performed outstandingly in the recently concluded 1st Odisha Inter-University Games at Baripada were felicitated.
KSFH Student Excels in 1st Odisha Open University Games
Students of School of Economics & Commerce. shine at the 1st Odisha Inter-University Games, held at Baripada, Odisha. Mr. Sudeep Krishan of M.Com won the Table-Tennis (Men’s Single) event, while Ms. Anuja Das, Student of B.Com won the badminton (Women’s Single) event. Ms. Das along with her partner Ms. Vaishnavi Rao of BA- Psychology , , won the Badminton Women’s Doubles title. Mr. Subhendu Mohanta of B.Com was in the basketball team which grabbed the 3rd position. This great achievements of the School is lauded by the students & staffs of the school.
Business Conclave 2019, SICC
A Business Conclave organized by SICC, on 10th & 11th September 2019, was the fourth edition of one of the biggest business & management fests being held in Odisha. 35 of the students from KSCE were accompanied by Mr. Himanshu Agarwall, faculty of Commerce, to SICC for participation in different events of the conclave like Quiz, Drama, Entrepreneurial Ideas, and many more. One of the student team which outperformed a beautiful enlightening and informative drama on the theme “Use of Plastic and Environment” were awarded as the winner of 1st position in Drama-O-Cratic Event.
OCA Talent Search,2019
Odisha Commerce Association conducted a State level Commerce Talent Search for the B.Com. Students in two phases during 2019 at 20 different centers of the State. 3 of our B.Com. students after qualifying the Preliminary round conducted at various centres over Odisha participated in the Final round during the OCA Conference and 1 of them namely, Yastica Sikaria, bagged the top 10 position amongst the participants.
Accounting Wizard Test
42 B.Com. students from our School, under the supervision of Dr. Mohammed Khursid, Mr. Himanshu Agarwall, & Ms. Sarita Singh, visited to DAV School of Business Management for participating in the Accounting Wizard Test organized by School of Accounting, a unit of learning community, in association with P.G. Department of Commerce, Utkal University & Institute of Cost Accountants of India (Bhubaneswar Chapter) and gave their best performance in the competition.
Business Conclave, UU
10 of our students under the supervision of Dr. Mohammed Khursid &Mr. Himanshu Agarwall, went for participation in a B-School Meet organized by the P.G. Department of Commerce, Utkal University on 13thMarch 2020. Two of our PG Students namely, Pranab Rath & Nandini Mohanty, bagged the Runners up Trophy in B-Quiz event. Also, Nandini Mohanty got the 1stprize in Unleash your Talent event for Singing and the Runners-up award was grabbed by our UG student, Ritina Rath, for her Dance Performance in Unleash your Talent event.
Spring Fest, IIT Kharagpur
One of our B.Com. student, Ritina Rath, along with her team participated in a Dance event of the Spring Fest organized by IIT Kharagpur in January 2020. After successfully competing in the prelims and pre-finals round their group named as “The Ensemble” secured fourth position in the event by showcasing their graceful dance performance
National Accounting Talent Search (NATS)
Indian Accounting Association (IAA) organized a National Accounting Talent Search (NATS) Exam across the country for both Undergraduate and Postgraduate students on 2nd February 2020 at Department of Statistics, Utkal University. It’s a proud moment of our School that2 of our students namely, Salony Modi &Adarsh Swain, were among the 4 undergraduate students of Odisha who got the Brilliant Performance Award for securing in the top 10 percentile.
